Jerry and his wife have been involved in the homeschooling community for over 15 years.  They homeschooled all four of their children, and firmly support a family’s right to choose this path if it works for them.  While Tennessee as a state is generally friendly towards the homeschooling process, many families find themselves harassed by local schools that do not share such a positive outlook.  Often, the local school boards attempt to implement restrictive policies that conflict with Tennessee’s statutes.  It is also not uncommon for families to face “anonymous calls” made to local DCS officials by “concerned” citizens – often family members who disagree with homeschooling, claiming the children are not being sent to school at all.
